Keewaydin Museum to host presentation on African American Innovation through pop culture on May 16 | News


KENNEWICK, Wash.-The East Benton County Historical Society is hosting an presentation on African American culture through pop culture at 7 p.m. on May 16 at the Museum at Keewaydin.

LaToya Brackett will give a presentation entitled, “They Want Our Rhythm, but Not Our Blues: African American Innovation through Pop Culture.”

According to the EBCHS, the presentation focuses on how the blues impacted African American pop culture through a reflection on music, sports, language, food and even hair.

Part of the Community Lecture Series, the free presentation is presented by Humanities Washington and the EBCHS.
